National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Are you a start-up, home based micro business or a SME profit or not-for-profit entity looking to be involved in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rollout?
As the disability support services sector shifts away from traditional block funding to participant directed care under the NDIS, participants will be provided with a funding package based on need and can select their service providers.
We have recently been working with the NDS and disability service providers presenting workshops across Victoria helping NDIS Providers become financially sustainable under the new regime.
The roll-out in Victoria commenced in July 2013 with the trial area of Geelong, Colac, Otway Shire, Surfcoast and Queenscliff. It is expected the rollout will continue across Victoria over the next few years through to July 2019.
The 0.5% increase in the Medicare levy introduced two years ago was designed to help fund the NDIS scheme which will rollout across Australia in stages over the coming 3 years. it is expected to cover over 400,000 people across the country when fully implemented, over 100,000 of those will be in Victoria.
Existing Service Providers
Providers (new and existing) should get registered and follow an application process to the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency).
Existing providers will need to get their heads and business models around the changing competitive landscape, as well as cashflow, financial reporting, understanding cost of operations and managing growth issues that will come from the changes to the disability support regime. It is matter of becoming financially sustainable under the NDIS regime. Let us help you!
